I was reading an interview of Nandita Das a couple of days ago in 'The Telegraph'. It ended with an interesting rhetorical. I can't recall her exact words, but summed up, they more or less ran as follows :
Why on earth would we do something in life unless it was something we really really wanted to do ?
She has a point. Why indeed ?

We end up doing this to please others (most of the time)
because we don;t live a life for ourselves. it a pity how we live our lives for everyone around us. which is ok, but we do just that. we care about what others think a little too much. our entire life we are too busy thinking about what others are thinking about us.
